Hugging Is Healthy

Sunday, February 04, 2018

Our church is known as a 'hugging bunch of people.' We believe in greeting people warmly and hugging is one way we do that. Why? Because hugging is healthy. It actually helps the body's immune system, it keeps you healthier, it cures depression, it reduces stress, it induces sleep, it's invigorating, it's rejuvenating, it has no unpleasant side effects, and hugging is nothing less than a miracle drug.

Hugging is all natural. It is organic, naturally sweet, no pesticides, no preservatives, no artificial ingredients, and one hundred percent wholesome. Hugging is practically perfect. There are no movable parts, no batteries to wear out, no periodic check-ups, low energy consumption, high energy yield, inflation proof, non-fattening, no monthly payments, no insurance requirements, theft-proof, nontaxable, non-polluting and, of course, fully returnable.

Most importantly, hugging is biblical! In the Bible is a verse written by one of the wisest men in history, his name was King Solomon. In Ecclesiastes 3:5, he wrote there's "A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing." In the Old Testament when Joseph's dad, Jacob, was dying, his father asked Joseph to bring his grandchildren closer to him because his eyes were failing due to his old age.  Genesis 48:10 records, "Now the eyes of Israel were so dim from age that he could not see. So Joseph brought his sons close to him, and his father kissed them and embraced them."

In Romans 16:16 (the Message Translation), the Apostle Paul said we should greet one another with "Holy embraces all around!"
