Fred was born November 24, 1947, in Covington, TN. He attended and graduated from Frazier High School as valedictorian in 1965. He attended Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN, where he graduated in 1970 with Bachelor of Science degrees in physics and mathematics and also played trombone in various college bands. Following graduation, he worked as a high school physics and math teacher and basketball coach for 25 years in Memphis, TN.
Fred is the father of three children and five grandchildren. In 1994, he married his wife, Virginia and moved to Chattanooga, TN, where he continued to teach and coach for 15 years at Ooltewah High School until his retirement in 2010. He also taught at two vocational colleges in the city. During his career, he always tried to encourage his students by revealing God’s love in him.His commitment to God and service in the church has always been a priority in Fred’s adult life. In 1997, after searching two years for a church home, he and his wife joined New Covenant Fellowship Church, where they have been actively involved. They found this church to be honest, refreshing and spirit filled. Founder and pastor, Dr. Bernie Miller, preaches the word without compromise. Frederick now serves as a deacon and member of the praise team.
