February is the month when many of us show how much we love someone special by purchasing gifts, roses, cards or going out to eat. When we really think about what God has done for us in Christ, that God sacrificed His Son to save us, our hearts should be flooded with expressions of love for God. A person who loves God will love other people as well. If we have truly been “born of God” and love God, then we love the people God loves. Differences should not matter, such as differences of…
· opinion · color
· position · race
· class · neighborhood
· denomination · social status
Nothing should keep us from loving one another if we have truly been born of God. Nothing should keep us from also loving sinners who need to know about the love of God that saves. Some Christians, sadly, by their actions, seem to hate sinners, the very people God loves. John 3:16 states, “God so loved the world (full of sinners), that He gave His only begotten Son.”
So, how can the “love of God” people hate the people God loves? Many of us, unfortunately, don’t love those who have different opinions, or who are of a different race, denomination or political group. We were saved to love and reach the lost, regardless of race, denomination or political party.
Ask God to show you how you can show love to everyone God loves this Valentine’s Day. Luke 6:32 says, “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ love those who love them.”
